Victoria’s reign ran from 1837 to 1901, long enough to contain several distinct jewelry fashions: the romantic early years, the heavy dark mourning pieces that followed Prince Albert’s death in 1861, and the lighter, more playful work of the closing decades. Silver was worked throughout, often with hand engraving that machines never quite reproduced.
This necklace has sold. Antique and estate jewelry is bought outright at our counter, and older silver is always worth showing us.
