Graded MS 68, this is a 1964 Kennedy half dollar – the first year of the design and the only year Kennedy halves were struck in 90 percent silver, before the alloy dropped to 40 percent for 1965 through 1970. The dies were prepared within weeks of the assassination in November 1963, Gilroy Roberts adapting his Mint medal portrait for the obverse and Frank Gasparro cutting the presidential seal reverse.
