Mexico’s large silver coinage is one of the longest continuous traditions in the hemisphere, running from the colonial eight reales through the peso of the republic, and for a long stretch it was the coin merchants across Asia and the Pacific trusted by weight alone. Many surviving pieces carry chopmarks, the small punches merchants stamped into coins they had tested and accepted. Three of them made up this lot.
All three have sold. Mexican silver comes through here regularly and is bought outright from the public.
