Every diamond ring comes down to the same four variables – carat, color, clarity and cut – which is why the trade settled long ago on a shared vocabulary for describing them. Cut is the one that does the most work for the eye, since it governs how much of the light entering the stone comes back out of the top rather than leaking away through the bottom.
This ring is in the case at the shop in St. Augustine. Come see it in daylight and then under the lamp; a diamond can look like two different stones depending on where you are standing.
