Modern dollar coins are a long record of the Mint trying to make a circulating dollar work after the silver dollar ended: the large Eisenhower of 1971 to 1978, the small Susan B. Anthony from 1979, the golden-colored manganese brass Sacagawea from 2000, and the Presidential series that followed it. None of the circulating strikes carry silver – they are clad or brass, and they are collected for the designs rather than for metal.
This group has sold. Dollar coins, modern ones included, are bought outright at the St. Augustine counter.
