American Silver Eagles have been struck since 1986, each one holding a full troy ounce of .999 silver, with Adolph Weinman’s 1916 Walking Liberty on the obverse and John Mercanti’s heraldic eagle on the reverse. Proof Eagles are produced separately from the bullion issues, with mirrored fields and frosted devices, and packaged by the Mint for collectors. This one is dated 1997.
