A 1909 V.D.B. Lincoln cent — the first year of the Lincoln cent and the first year of the wheat reverse that ran until 1958. The initials on the reverse are those of Victor David Brenner, the designer; public complaint about their prominence got them removed partway through 1909, which is what makes the V.D.B. cents a distinct first-year issue rather than just an early date.
This one has been sold. We buy Lincoln cents and early wheat dates outright.
