Barber halves circulated hard. Charles E. Barber was Chief Engraver of the Mint when he produced the design, and the half dollar version stayed in production from 1892 until Weinman’s Walking Liberty replaced it in 1916. Struck in 90 percent silver at the standard half dollar weight, the type contains just over a third of a troy ounce of metal. This example is dated 1902.
The coin sold. Barber silver in any grade is bought outright from the public at our shop in St. Augustine.
