Not sure this is the right piece? Tell us your budget and we'll work out what to buy
Thirteen millimeters across and thinner than a dime, the Type 1 gold dollar is the smallest coin the United States ever issued. James B. Longacre designed it, it was struck from 1849 to 1854, and it holds under a twentieth of an ounce of gold. It exists because the California discovery flooded the country with the metal and Congress wanted a small denomination in it. This example is dated 1851.
It has been sold. Early American gold always interests us, and we buy it outright from the public.
