Spanish silver of 1794 has a particular resonance in this town. St. Augustine was under Spanish rule that year, in the Second Spanish Period that ran from 1784 until Florida passed to the United States in 1821, so coins like this one were the working money of the place where our shop now stands. Spanish milled silver remained legal tender in the United States until 1857.
This coin has sold. Spanish colonial silver, and anything else with Florida history behind it, is bought outright from the public here.
